Richard Stallman  - IWEEE 2015

Richard Stallman, PhD.

Launched the Free Software movement in 1983 and started the development of the GNU operating system (see www.gnu.org) in 1984. GNU is Free Software: everyone has the freedom to copy it and redistribute it, with or without changes. The GNU/Linux system, basically the GNU operating system with Linux added, is used on tens of millions of computers today. Stallman has received the ACM Grace Hopper Award, a MacArthur Foundation fellowship, the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Pioneer Award, and the the Takeda Award for Social/Economic Betterment, as well as several honorary doctorates.

Luis Falcón, MD, B.Sc.

Luis Falcón, M.D., B.Sc, holds a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the California State University (USA) and in Medicine from IUCS, Buenos Aires (Argentina). Dr Falcon is a social, animal rights and free software activist. He is the founder of GNU Solidario, a nonprofit organization that delivers Health and Education with Free Software. Dr. Falcon is the author of GNU Health, the award ­winning Free/Libre Health and Hospital Information System. He currently lives in the Canary Islands, Spain.

Dr. Etienne Saliez  - IWEEE 2015

Etienne Saliez, MD.

Education in Internal Medicine. Years of experience in Integrated Hospital Information Systems in the Netherlands and Belgium. Member of the ISfTeH, International Society for Telemedicine, a not for profit NGO with participants in about 80 countries. Involved in the ISfTeH working group "Collaborative Care Team in Open Source". Interested in the coordination of the Problem Oriented Medical Record.

Nicolas Évrard

He has been active in free software since 2001. He used to write python web application using Zope first in join venture between Liège's University and a packaging company then within one of the first Python Company in Belgium: Aragne. Afterwards he joined Tiny SPRL which later became Odoo, after a few years he created a short-lived company doing consultancy job for BEL20 companies. He now works at B2CK on the Tryton framework.

Dr. Axel Braun  - IWEEE 2015

Axel Braun, PhD.

Axel Braun studied electrical engineering at University Duisburg and wrote his PhD about high-voltage power cables. Afterwards he joined an American consulting company, where he worked in the development of an industry solution for the oil industry at SAP in Walldorf. Specialized on logistics processes along the supply chain, he mostly worked for large international customers in various industries. Business Process Optimization, Enterprise Architecture, SAP Implementation and Project Management (> 4 Mio € Budget) were main topics, additional to CIO/CTO roles in (internet) startups. Since middle of the 1980's Axel is following the Free and Open Source crowd. Linux-User since the 90's, his focus is on desktop and useability in business. He is is member of the openSUSE project and maintains various packages, amongst others hylafax+, the Tryton ERP System, GNU Health and the GNU Health Live CD

Jorge Raul Valera de Fez - IWEEE 2015

Jorge Raul Valera de Fez

Mr. Valera de Fez Has a degree in Sociology and Social Sciences (Spain, 2002). A Master in Science of Labour and Education (France, 2005) and he has a Training as a Specialist in International Marketing (Spain, 2008). Jorge has been working and applying his knowledge in various companies, until he began his work with the Red Cross. He currently holds the position of Referrer Regional Volunteer, in charge of coordination and management of volunteers in the four counties of the island of Gran Canaria (Spain).

MD. PhD. Born in Barcelona, studied Medicine in the Central University of Barcelona from 1966-1972 with Honors. Got the PhD with “Cariotyping and tissue culture of tumors” in 1974 with Honors. Specialized in Pathology in 1974 being trained in Paris, Milwakee-USA and London. Working as pathologist in the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona since 1972 got the Assistance Professorship in Pathology in 1974 and the Chair of Pathology of the University of La Laguna in 1982 [...]Founded the CATAI association in 1993, being the president since then. Got the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine in 1999 for the University of La Laguna. Since 1996 train on Telemedicine the students of medicine and Computer Science, creating the European Master of Telemedicine and Bioengineering applied to Telemedicine in 2004, at distance [...]

Shinji Kobayashi MD, PhD - IWEEE 2015

Shinji Kobayashi MD., PhD.

Dr. Kobayashi was born in 1970 Saga. He graduated from the graduate school of Kyushu university with MD, PhD. His research area is Open Source Software in medicine and Ruby implementation of the openEHR standards. He has been a lead of Medical Open Source Software Council in Japan from 2003.

Mª Jose Sagrado

She is aField epidemiologist, trained through the Field Epidemiology training in the Spanish National Center of Epidemiology, Institute of Health Carlos III. She has been working as anepidemiologist in the World Health Organization mainly in emergency settings such as the Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda in the Philippines and in the West Africa Ebola Outbreak. Currently she has joined Médecins Sans Frontières as an Medical data analyst in the Health Management Information System project.


Manuel Roales Bautista - IWEEE 2015

Manuel Roales Bautista

He is an air traffic controller. He has been a representative of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation in Gran Canaria for the last eight years . For health reasons he had to leave office, but he'll be cooperate with it for life. He and his wife had traveled six times to India and escorted more than 100 people to visit the Foundation.

Dr. Lazzero is an Emergency Physician at West Turin Hospital Federation - Local Health Unit TO 3, United Hospitals of Pinerolo (Turin Area). He is Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Turin, Faculty of Medicine “San Luigi”, School of Nursing. He is also Professor of Emergency Care in Telemedicine and Telepharmacy in an International Master on eHealth at University of Camerino, Faculty of Pharmacy. University education: Degree in Medicine and Surgery, magna cum laude (Turin, Italy). Specialization in Endocrinology, with special interest for critical patients, magna cum laude (Turin, Italy). University Diploma in Chronobiology (Paris, France). University Diploma in Emergency Medicine (Nice, France). Master of Science in eHealth, magna cum laude (Camerino, Italy). He is member of several scientific societies including the Federazione delle Associazioni dei Dirigenti Medici Internisti (FADOI), the Società Italiana di Medicina d’Emergenza e Urgenza (SIMEU) and the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH). In 2010 founded ZOHE - E-Health Open Zone, a no-profit association that aims to promote health care through knowledge, research and innovation, trying to combine sustainability, health and people with a special interest for emerging economies.
